You’re engaged! Now what?⁠

Set a budget!

Weddings can get expensive FAST so the first thing you should be doing is setting your budget. Even if you don’t have a firm number having a number that you know you are comfortable with is super important and will help guide many of your decisions. ⁠

Figure out what’s important.

Sit down and figure out what is the most important for YOU. Is it the venue? Maybe you have a photographer you just HAVE to work with. Maybe there is a coordinated, videographer, DJ, florist, or caterer that you know is going to make your wedding day absolutely perfect.⁠⠀

You need to know what is most important because odds are high that you are going to have to make sacrifices here and there.⁠⠀

Contact vendors.

Contact your dream vendors ASAP. ⁠⠀

Seriously, don’t sleep on this. Venues, photographers, DJs, florists are all going to be busier during the 2021 and 2022 wedding season thanks to pandemic reschedules. Obviously, this isn’t your fault but it is something to be aware of.⁠⠀(check out this blog post if you’re wondering why engagement sessions are so important.)

Remember, you’re in charge.

Take everyone’s advice with a grain of salt. Everyone has their own opinions on how your wedding day should go. But remember, this is your wedding day and YOU are the one in charge. ⁠
