Melissa and Kyle's Okoboji WeddingMelissa and Kyle’s wedding story is something you would only see in the movies (think Dirty Dancing in all the best ways).

The best kind of love story.

When they first met both of them were spending the summer as part of the Okoboji Summer Theater cast. They had a whirlwind Summer romance complete with late night dips in the lake.  And even though they both live in NYC these days they couldn’t have imagined having their wedding take place anywhere else.

Melissa and Kyle chose to keep their wedding guest list small inviting family and all of the friends they had made over the years with the Okoboji Summer Theater. It was basically a huge family reunion. It was without question the happiest most joyful wedding I have ever photographed.

The details.

Every detail from their wedding day was infused with their same joyful spirit and full of meaning. Melissa wore a charm on her wrist that had belonged to her father. They were married on the very same lake where they fell in love.

Kyle got ready in the old Summer Theater dressing rooms. That in itself was incredible. Watching not just one person but an entire group of friends go down memory lane together is nothing short of incredible. They even signed the walls one last time.

A friend brewed them their very own “I Do” brew to celebrate the wonderful couple’s wedding day.

Kyle had cufflinks created to look like the Okoboji sun.

The table numbers were designed to look like numbers from a deck of cards. Kyle also happens to be a talented magician. Rumor has it you can even find videos on YouTube.

Melissa had a charm she wore on her bracelet in remembrance of her father.

Every ounce of this wedding was perfectly them and I couldn’t have been more honored to document the experience for them.
