Spring is easily my favorite time of the year. And jumping in puddles with my sweet Jubilee as we meander around the block is easily one of my favorite activities. We don’t have many family traditions, but this is one thing we have done since she could walk.
This might surprise everyone, but I am TERRIBLE at photographing my own family. I like to be present and enjoy the moment WITH them not simply documenting it. Finding a balance is honestly something I’ve been trying to get better at since Jubilee was a baby.
The older we all get the more I realize how badly I want these memories and moments captured. So I’m going to try to be better and use this blog space as a way to hold myself accountable. It’s so easy to get caught up in life and work and to brush it off by constantly saying, “there will be more time later.”
BUT there isn’t always time later. And if I’ve learned anything as a mother it’s that kids change fast. Lightening fast. You might put your kid down for a nap and when they wake up they are different. Sometimes visibly different. I’ll never forget the day I put my daughter down for a nap and all of her baby fat seemed to disappear in an instant. She wasn’t a baby anymore. In those few hours, she had turned into a child.
I often find myself wondering if she will cherish these memories as much as I do. If she will love these moments so much that she’ll continue them with her kids. It’s interesting the things we hold on to and the things we let go of as we age. I find that the simple everyday moments are more my jam. We don’t have a ton of money so vacations, toys, expensive experiences aren’t really possible. But what we do get is to spend every single day together, as a family. And it’s perfect.
So here are just a few of my favorite photos from our family adventure jumping in all of the puddles we could possibly find.
As a mom and a business owner, I understand the power of a moment, the story behind a smile. Photography for me is a bridge – connecting hearts, capturing the unspoken. It’s about creating an experience that’s as enjoyable as the final product. Your ideas, your story, your essence – I’m here to bring them to life through my lens.
