Ever wonder why you should have engagement photos taken? Ever wonder if they were REALLY necessary? It’s not like you NEED to have them for the invitations. Everyone already knows what you look like anyways, right?
Well here are my top 5 reasons why you should have an engagement session.
I promise you that you are going to spend most of your wedding day with your wedding photographer. Don’t you want to make sure you actually have a connection with them before your wedding day? It gives you the perfect opportunity to see how they work. Do they give a lot of direction? No direction? Is it posed or more organic? What works best for YOU?
This is another huge one! Your wedding day photography is going to go so much smoother if you are comfortable with your photographer BEFORE your big day. Do you get nervous in front of the camera? I instantly get awkward and don’t know how to act! Even us photographers need practice in front of the camera so it’s totally normal that you might too. Honestly, it’s amazing how naturally the day flows when you’ve already practiced it beforehand.
I always tell clients that this is the perfect time to test run your wedding day makeup! You get a chance to see what it looks like photographed by your wedding photographer BEFORE your wedding day! Not only this but you get to see how the photographer’s work will look and know exactly what to expect.
On your wedding day, you are going to have very little time to just focus on you and your partner. There are going to be tons of people there and they are ALL going to want to have a moment with you. Your engagement session is all about you and what you want to do!
Use this time to showcase how unique and special your relationship is! Do you have an activity that you love doing together? Perhaps a favorite fishing spot? Maybe there is a hiking trail or state park that you guys just love! Do you prefer coffee shops? Being snuggled up on your couch at home? This is your time to make these photos all about YOU!
As a mom and a business owner, I understand the power of a moment, the story behind a smile. Photography for me is a bridge – connecting hearts, capturing the unspoken. It’s about creating an experience that’s as enjoyable as the final product. Your ideas, your story, your essence – I’m here to bring them to life through my lens.
